Hewlett-Packard Laboratories (HPL) is seeking post-doctoral candidates for two-year government-funded positions in large-scale integrated photonics as part of the Information and Quantum Sciences Laboratory (IQSL) research and development program. The focus of these programs will be research on experimental quantum optics in solid-state systems, and design and fabrication of CMOS and other Si-related active and passive nanophotonic devices.
IQSL is a world-renowned HPL research team producing outstanding research in the general areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology, with a current emphasis on molecular electronics, fault-tolerant computer architectures, nanophotonics and nanosensors, quantum optics and information technology, and theoretical work in associated areas. IQSL has invested more than $25 million over the past five years in both the instruments and infrastructure needed to enable leading edge research in these fields. Our program is well-funded internally and has an impressive record of attracting significant government funding. Our team members have enjoyed exceptional success in publishing results in the most respected professional scientific and engineering journals. In addition, our post-doctoral research associate positions offer competitive salaries and benefits for qualified candidates.
Qualifications
Must have received (or will soon receive) his or her Ph.D. degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field. Ideal candidates will have studied extensively and/or published papers on the optical properties of quantum dots or nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond, or Si-related active optoelectronic device design and fabrication.
